Best Celebrity Bachelor Parties of 2012
June 30, 2012On this celebration of highest importance, everyone wants to party like a celebrity on their bachelor party. So if you are looking for bachelor party ideas, take some pointers from this year’s top celeb bachelor parties:
1. Brad Pitt
No shockers here: Brad Pitt had a very sophisticated bachelor party that kicked off at Cannes, following the premier of Pitt’s new film Killing me Softly (smooth publicity move) with an illustrious guest list including buddies Harvey Weistein (producer of Pulp Fiction and Lord of the Rings), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), and of course P Diddy, who invited the entire party to his yacht for an after party. As reported by Daily Star, the stag included bottles of £250 Johnnie Walker whiskey, cigars, and little buggies that carried the guests around the giant villa, complete with two butlers each (one to drive, and one to hold the drinks, I guess?).
2. Katy Perry
Just one day after Russell Brand was arrested for roughing up a photographer, Katy Perry was up for a wild bachelorette party from the get-go. Once they arrived at the Las Vegas Hotel Beach Club pool, she wasted no time in tweeting “Signing up for a liver transplant now”, and continued her Las Vegas VIP iteninary, friend Rihanna in tow, checking out Montreal-based Cirque Du Soleil KA at the MGM Grand Hotel/Casino, followed by VIP service at a posh nightclub, and finishing off the night at a strip club, where according to People.com, Perry got herself a lap dance, and allegedly enjoyed watching the strippers dance to her songs.
3. Russell Brand
Sorry Russell Brand for putting you on the bottom, but from the looks of Katy’s party, you did that to yourself…Just kidding! While we can’t quite consider your bachelor party “wild”, we will, however, call it classy. Russell Brand kept his past alcohol and drug problems on the back burner and had a sober, but slick bachelor party weekend, escorted by Oasis alum Noel Gallagher and others—fulfilling the bachelor party “testosterone” quotient with a soccer game with his favorite team, a private dinner, and yes, a strip club (whew!). We know that couldn’t have gotten too crazy however, because the bachelor party continued with an early morning raft building competition the next day. Can’t argue with the manliness of that itinerary!

Top 3 Hangover Cures for Montreal Bachelor Parties
June 14, 2012We all know that Montreal’s nightlife offers an endless amount of ways to get, well, hammered, but few best men think to properly plan the hangover portion(s!) of their Montreal bachelor getaway.
While it might seem “funny” while you are sitting at home with your buddies to plan to bungee jump or white water raft at 9am the morning after, no one will be laughing that morning. In fact, let’s face it, no one will be up, period; but when they are, the only extreme sports-related topic on their mind will be Gatorade.
Top 3 Hangover Cures for Montreal Bachelor Parties
1. Greasy and/or Topless Breakfast
Yep, that’s right—you can have your eggs sunny side up at one of Montreal’s topless breakfast establishments, the perfect transition for those mornings after that still feel like the night before—or that you would like to feel like the night before. Noted topless breakfast eateries like Chez Lidia, Les Princesses Super Sexy, Les Courtisanes aren’t fancy, but then again, neither are you after a night of debauchery.
If your priority is food quality over cup-size quantity, try one of Montreal’s many greasy spoons like local favorites Cosmos and Mo’s.
2. Spa it up Man Style
I know what you’re thinking, and, oh yes, Montreal has those types of spas, too!
Seriously though: c’mon, you’re in open-minded Montreal, so why not indulge in a little “metro” man pampering? Nothing’s better to cure a hangover (not to mention get ready for the beautiful ladies of “Montreal VIP clubbing: Round 2”) then go for classy and modern men’s grooming haven MANN’s, or to bond with the boys the classic bath house way (not like that!), stagger over to sleek, modern, and soothingly serene Scandinave des Bains.
Need another reason? Not only with the fiancée just love that you did it, but it sure will be handy to have some details about your Montreal bachelor party to tell her about that aren’t rated R & up.
3. Fresh Air at Tam-Tams or Jean Drapeau Park
On summer Sundays in Montreal the park options are in full bloom: Witness the spectacle of large congregations of drum-players, hippies, and dancers (prettiness a possibility but not guaranteed!) at Tam-Tams in stunning Mount Royal Park. Or, if you are planning on hitting up the Casino de Montreal or La Ronde, why not spend a couple of hours beforehand recovering in nearby Jean Drapeau Park, with breathtaking views of both Montreal, and, after 2pm, gorgeous local girls dancing it up at Piknik Electronik, a huge outdoor music festival that happens weekly!
Hangovers are an inevitable a consequence of bachelor parties as paranoid fiancées, so while you are planning on coming to party it up in the Montreal nightlife, be prepared to be there hungover.
Bachelor Party Planning Tip: Consider The Drinking Style of The Groom
June 9, 2012Planning a bachelor party in Montreal or another location involves many different tasks, from coordinating schedules to reassuring the bride.
After more than a decade of helping people pull off Montreal bachelor parties, we at Montreal VIP have one more item we think should be on every best man’s checklist. And that is that the drinking style of the groom should be considered. Otherwise, you might not party hard enough. On the flip side, you could end up with a messy drunk husband-to-be that will force you to cut the celebrations short.
Here are some drinking styles that could describe the man of the hour:
- The admitted teetotaler: He’s upfront about the fact that he rarely drinks. Three or four will get him feeling good. And hey, that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Feel free to push this groom a little beyond his normal limits, but refrain from force feeding him jager bombs and tequila shots! The great news about this groom is that it won’t bother him if some guys smash back more booze than he does.
- The closet teetotaler: This is perhaps the most dangerous kind of drinker there is. He doesn’t drink much. He doesn’t need a whole lot of liquor before he’s out for the count. But…he doesn’t want anyone else to know this. He’ll do his best to keep up with the seasoned consumers, even if it means a deathly hangover and an early night. Unfortunately, having this type of groom on your hands might mean everybody in your group will need to hold back a little.
- The seasoned boozer: He’s been around the block, so go for epic with this guy…no limits!
Assessing the groom’s drinking style will allow you to plan a level of indulgence that’s just right.
Guys, have any more categories to add? What was the groom’s drinking style at the last bachelor party you attended?
