There are lots of books that talk about Montreal and its great nightlife, but none have ever gone into the city’s past and looked at why Montrealers have always been so big on late night partying.
Stepping Out: The Golden Age of Montreal Night Clubs
looks at the culture surrounding Montreal’s nightlife and talks about some of the most popular nightclubs of the time. It’s interesting to read from the perspective of someone who frequents the best venues today; a lot of the places I visit were built on the site of hugely famous clubs that I’d never heard of till now. Luckily the city hasn’t slowed down one bit; Montreal is still a great place to party and people still come from all over to hit the clubs or have a bachelor party here.
I’m sure the Montreal Nightlife will keep getting more recognition, the fact that there are now books and travel shows mentioning it prominently means the city is moving from being one of North America’s best kept secrets to a mainstream hotspot.
